Brent Cross Waste Transfer Station
Location:

London Borough of Barnet

Status:
5,000 sqm/ £24m
Size:
The project comprises a new transfer station, where food and household waste will be collected, collated and transferred on to other recycling processing centres.
The facility is part of the Brent Cross Thameslink Phase, within the Brent Cross Cricklewood Regeneration Scheme, and is a key element of the essential infrastructure required to support a comprehensive and mixed use development. The proposal seeks to preserve the ambition of high quality spaces that are respectful of the communities, ecology and biodiversity of the area.
Our vision has been to facilitate all operational requirements, whilst meeting the wider aspirations of the place-making agenda; which incorporates a strong focus on enhancing ecology and the performance of the facility, in terms of health and sustainability. Stand-out design features included a brown roof and landscaped screening, to soften the appearance of the facility at street level, and to replace lost habitat.
