The Hoddinott Hall scheme was commissioned as Phase 2 of the Wales Millennium Centre, also designed and delivered by Percy Thomas Architects. The orchestral hall was designed as a recording and broadcast studio with excellent natural acoustics. It provides international standard performance and recording facilities, meeting the exacting brief of the BBC National Opera of Wales.

We were able to design the building to fit precisely into the car park space at the north end of the Millennium Centre, so that it appears now as if it was always part of the original plan. We were able to integrate the Centre with Hoddinott Hall, so that both facilities merge seamlessly in operational terms, and in terms of the public audience experience.
