Ty Hafan is one of the UK’s leading paediatric palliative care charities, providing periodic respite to both children and their families, and most importantly offering end of life care. What began via a direct approach from Ty Hafan in November 2017, requesting a number of small feasibility studies, escalated into the full fit-out & refurbishment of the Hospice. The key driver being to modernise the internal environment, whilst maintaining the homely and welcoming feel for which Ty Hafan is renowned.
Our Interior Design Team has worked closely with the Client and, indeed, all project stakeholders - running collaborative design workshops and engagement sessions with parents, staff and children. The resulting scheme has taken onboard as much user feedback as possible and has sought to engender a sense of ownership amongst staff, children and families.

In addition to the upgrade of the internal finishes, services and lighting, Ty Hafan has invested in bespoke fixed furniture throughout the scheme to ensure their specific needs are met. We have been responsible for all design aspects of the project.
In order to keep the Hospice operational throughout the refurbishment, it was been necessary to phase the refurbishment/ fit-out works. Phase 1 of the project was handed over in May 2020, in spite of the Covid 19 pandemic and the restricted working conditions imposed on the Contractor, Knox & Wells. Procured under a Design and Build Contract – we remained involved as the Client Design Advisor and worked closely alongside Knox & Wells and Ty Hafan to ensure the design intent was delivered.
